Sidelined The Final Product

Sidelined The Final Product with the link.

Our final product is almost the same as our second draft except we edited out the wind noises in the background. We knew that the wind noises in the background was ruining the the feel of the film we created and so we took away majority of the noises. The reason being is because of the dialogue so as someone was speaking and the wind was in the background it was hard to get rid of the wind because everytime we tried it was taking out the sound of someone speaking. We figured out we had to keep it in the wind in the background and just lowering the sound of it as there was nothing we could do.

Overall, I am pleased with our final product as it was what me and Theo planned and it came out to look really good, the way we wanted to introduce the characters especially Isaac and his determination for football. I'm happy with the outcome and I believe we had done well because of how we introduced the characters, the different kind of shots we used like the Tracking shot, the Point-of-View shot and the close-up. Also, the dialogue used with all the 'Slang' language used by The Gang was demonstrated perfectly and the way Isaac was the same as he was described of being hard working and dedicated to his football.

Sidelined The Movie Draft 2

This is our Second Draft for Sidelined The Movie with the link.

With out second draft we fixed all the errors we made from our first draft. We spent so much time and effort to make this what we planned before and you can see that we made it completely different to how our product looked the first time.

To start of with, we added titles in the beginning with our production company (Clockworks Productions) and we used a white font against a black background which we planned because of our research of films with the same genre doing the same as us. Also we added new footage to our opening due to how short our opening was in our first draft. We filmed The Gang and Isaac with both introducing themselves by the way they are acting such as with Isaac he is introduced as dedicated, determined and hard working. On the other hand, The Gang are introduced as aggressive, deviant and mischievous. What we showed was both of the different characters on how they normally behave and personally I think how we showed this was good because it was different. What I mean when I say different is as we showed Isaac, we cut and showed The Gang in the same shot, such as the Long shot (0:44 - 0:52). We were trying to show the correlation between the different characters, how the different characters are around the same age but are so different int the way they act.

Next, we tried to make it less boring and dull like we did in our first draft and so we made more of a story in the second draft, for example, the drug trade at the end. Also, by adding new characters in our second draft it made opening look so much better because of our idea of the correlation of the two different characters (Isaac and Karim) but both characters showing how they are different by doing what they do on normal day.

Also, we added a quote in the beginning because again it was something different with our genre and linked so well it our synopsis. By the way it was quoted by a great footballer (Pele) explaining that injuries can happen outside of football. It was perfect for our idea and so we were confident it would look good and I believe it was the right choice as it gives our product something different to everyone else. And it gives the audience a clue to what will happen later in the film with the injury of Isaac.

Furthermore, we added Diegetic sound such as traffic noises because we wanted to show the British youth life as the way it would normally be portrayed on a normal day and chose to do this as it would show the Urban, Gritty environment in a realistic way. The sounds we used link well in our opening due to the fact it goes well with our footage and because of our genre being Urban, Youth Culture when you see a gang being introduced they normally have Non-Diegetic sound in the background, most likely being Rap music but we thought it would be better if we showed the actual street life in Britain and just to make it look real life so it links well with our genre.

Lastly, we put some of the titles throughout the opening such as the main title 'Sidelined' coming in just after the quote and Isaac in the background when it appeared on the screen. Which we didn't do in the first draft and we put some of the cast's name on the bottom right including Theo (Isaac), Stefan (Jay) and even the editor who again was Theo. At the end of the opening we put the directors name who was me (Ali Fayyaz).

Sidelined The Movie Draft 1

This is our First Draft for Sidelined The Movie with the link.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lyuXr0m3to

Our first draft was not that great because we didn't put a lot of effort in editing and all we put in the opening was  of Isaac playing football. Even the footage with Isaac just playing football looked really dull and boring because it didn't grab your attention it was just some guy playing football in silent. and our scenes was too long even after we edited the footage such as the way Isaac was in the scene for longer than he was meant to be in made it look like we extending each scene due to the how short our opening was. The fact is we were doing this because we realised we didn't film enough to go above a minute and so we tried to make the clips longer to use more of the time which is another poor mistake we made. Also there was no sound used whatsoever in the opening all you can hear in the background was the wind noises which was loud and this showed how poor and terrible we edited the first time. Our first draft looks nothing like what we imagine our project to be like and so we knew we had to fix up the editing and film more footage involving other characters. We also decided to find a good location for the other characters and bring in some sound and titles in to actually make it look like a opening two minutes of a film.

                                                                                    0:27                               >>>                                  0:28

            0:29                               >>>                                  0:30

What I mean by extending the clip.
